They’re Kayaking for Our Animals!
Join us on Saturday, May 4, 2019 for SweetFest at Nowell Creek, a Lowcountry event featuring kayak races, scavenger hunt, food trucks, and more festival fun! 54 teams will be able to compete in our exciting kayak races on Nowell Creek. A $500 grand prize will be given to the winners in both the single and tandem kayak categories.
After Race Fun!
After the race, listen to live music and grab a bite to eat from Page’s Okra Grill or Tres Palmas Acai Food Trucks. Seek hidden treasure with a community scavenger hunt! This will give participants the chance to explore Sweetwater and learn some of the history of the community.
This is event is free to attend and open to the general public with all kayak registration fees and any other donations to benefit the Charleston Animal Society!
It is $20 per person to register for the kayak race. The kayak race will be divided into two categories: single and tandem. Race Participants must be 18 years of age or older. Kayak Registration deadline is May 1, 2019. You must complete Registration Form, Payment and Sign Waiver.
The kayak race will consist of three rounds for both the single kayak and tandem kayak categories. Round 1 will have three heats with six kayaks per heat. The top four finishers of each heat will move on to Round 2. Round 2 will have two heats with six kayaks per heat. The top three finishers in each heat will move on to the Championship Sprint Race. The Championship Sprint Race will consist of one heat
with six kayaks.
The winner of each category will receive the $500 grand prize. Registration is on a first come, first served basis. A total of 18 single kayak and 18 tandem kayak registration slots available. The entry fees are $20 for a single kayak and $30 for tandem kayaks. Registration fees are non-refundable and will be donated to Charleston Animal Society. All participants must sign a waiver before being
allowed to participate in the race. Waivers must be signed at the 8:00am check-in prior to being able to race. The check-in and safety meeting at 8:00am on race day is mandatory for all participants.
The Scavenger Hunt Registration deadline is May 1, 2019. No fee to enter.
• Scavenger hunt check-in is at 10:00am on the day of the event.
• Scavenger hunt runs from 10:00am – 12:30pm
• The scavenger hunt will consist of six teams of six players.
• Awards will be presented from 12:45pm – 1:00pm
