Abandoned hunting dogs are flooding Charleston Animal Society.
Hunters have had no problem setting their hunting dogs loose to fend for themselves– and many have found shelter at Charleston Animal Society.
“It is against the law to abandon an animal in South Carolina,” said said Charleston Animal Society Senior Director of Animal Services Pearl Sutton, “and you can clearly see that many of these hound dogs came from previous homes.”
The influx of hound dogs is just one reason the adult dog population at the shelter has reached a critical stage. To help find these animals home, Charleston Animal Society is offering free adoptions of all adult dogs.
For those considering adopting, remember that adult dogs are already housebroken, have some degree of training and are eager for human companionship. If you can adopt, please visit us at 2455 Remount Road or Click Here to see our dogs ready for adoption.
