Animal Cruelty comes in many forms

You can make a difference in the lives of animals who cannot speak for themselves, help us to protect animals and help to prosecute those who abuse them.

It is illegal to neglect, abuse, torment or torture an animal
It is illegal to steal or kill a pet
It is illegal to participate in dog-fighting even as a spectator
South Carolina law prohibits these activities and a conviction of animal cruelty may bring a fine of up to $5,000 and imprisonment for up to five years. The Charleston Animal Society is an integral part of local cruelty investigations and houses, protects and treats hundreds of abuse cases each year. Please consider making a donation to support our efforts.
